Wow! This summer is cruising by! We have been super busy. Ryan has had his internship and we've been getting up at 5:30am to work (Ryan on his dissertation and me on my classes so I can spend time with Sam when he is awake). Even with all that going on, we have been able to sneak in some fun. :) First up, Sam turned 10 months! He is such a funny kid. I feel like I am seeing him turn into a boy instead of being a baby. It is a little weird, but wonderful too. This stage has been awesome, and exhausting. He is so fun, he loves to play and be outside. He is quick to smile and be friends with anyone, and he is almost walking. He is just too scared to do it! Ha ha, I'm sure I'll be sorry when he really does start walking though. He is also busy, busy, busy! In the past month church has become a circus. We can't get him to sit still, even with the loads of toys and books that we bring. Last week he and a little girl (she is probably 4 or 5 months) were flirting loudly in sacrament meeting. Everyone within a few rows was laughing pretty hard, because it was cute. But, I'm sure no one got much out of the talks. I can't even remember what they were on. Sad day. It's going to be bittersweet when Sam goes into nursery, but I know he will love it. He and another little boy (who is only about a month older than him) have become fast friends and get into trouble in Elders Quorum with their daddies. Only 8 months left until nursery. Ha ha.
We had our 5th anniversary this past month. We stayed in a hotel locally, and went swimming. We brought Sam with us because we thought it would be fun for him to go swimming (his first time). He wasn't really a fan though. Hopefully he will learn to love it because his mom really loves swimming. The anniversary trip was fun, but I think next time we'll find a sitter. Sam had a rough night (as evidenced by the below picture) and didn't end up going to sleep until really late.
Flowers from Ryan :) For the 4th of July we traveled to Manti to spend the holiday with my parents and my sister's family. We watched the parade, had a wonderful meal (thanks Mom and Dad), and watched the fireworks from the temple hill.
The parade was a lot of fun, but we forgot a hat and sunscreen for Sam #momfail so we tied a burp cloth on his head. When he was willing to keep it on, he looked like a gangster. His little olive skin is amazing though and he didn't burn. Ryan and I did.
My sister Teresa is an experienced mother and was smart enough to bring glow sticks for the kids while we waited for the fireworks. Sam was in heaven. Seriously, it was so late which usually means grumpy kid, but he loved that glow stick. Ryan and I are planning on having glowsticks in our glove box for long dark car rides. They are amazing! Sam really loved the fireworks too. He just watched them. It was really adorable. I wish some of these pictures would have turned out better, but my nighttime photography is not the greatest.
Love you all! Happy summer!
