:) 18 Months

Our boy is 18 months old! It is hard to believe that 18 months has passed since we first "met" him. Crazy! He is such a funny boy. He is starting to talk a lot more. We love all the little words that suddenly appear in his vocabulary. Most of the time he walks around the house saying, "doggy, doggy, doggy". He loves our dog, and any other dog out there. It is adorable. Lately he has really been loving "drawing". He snatches pens from us all the time and will draw on any available paper (or himself), but mostly he likes to click the button up and down on the clicky kind of pens.

Sam went to nursery for the first time. He was not impressed. Ryan sat with him in nursery last week for the first hour. Every time Ryan stood up to sneak out the door, Sam would start crying. He would stop crying as soon as Ryan sat down, and then would go play with toys. We don't want him to cry, but we want him to be good at going to nursery. Are there any experienced parents out there who can give us some advice? Should we just let him cry and not stay with him? Help!

Things are going well for us. Ryan has settled into his new job and is learning all the intricacies of the engineering world. We are loving having a paycheck again. After looking for a job for about a year, we also love that we don't have to spend every waking minute apply for jobs. The 700 or so that we applied to was plenty. Whew!

We've both been called to jury duty in the past two months. Thankfully Ryan didn't end up being needed, and I'm still waiting to see if I will be. We have also been asked to help plan our stake's Trek this summer. It is fun and exciting and we hope we can work it so we are able to go with them. I also was recently called as an assistant den leader for the boy scouts in our ward. It is a TON of work, but the boys are super cute. It feels like life suddenly picked up and stole all of our time. Between Ryan's calling, my two callings, our Trek assignment, both of us working, loving on our sweet Sam, Ryan trying to finish his dissertation (he is up every morning working on it at 5:30 am) and working out so we can get into shape, we've been super busy.

We are looking forward to the upcoming summer months with family reunions, scout campouts, Trek, swimming lessons (we are thinking of doing Shrimp class lessons for Sam) and hopefully plenty of family time eating smores. :)

We love you all and are so grateful for our wonderful family and friends. Enjoy the pictures of our handsome son. That's all anyone cares about anyway. :)

 Sam's first Sunday in nursery!

He wouldn't stay still and smile for the camera. Silly boy.

Falling asleep during lunch. Nothing like cantaloupe to put you to sleep.
Adios!

Love,
Patricia
